What did you do before joining Eclipse?
I worked as in Investment Analyst for a listed utilities company, reviewing opportunities in the fixed-income and equity markets. After that, I felt I had learned good fundamental analysis skills but had little knowledge in Derivatives. For that reason, I joined Citi’s Equity Derivatives Middle Office Team and learned about trade capture and different derivatives products.
What do you do outside of work?
I love soccer and have been playing since I was 10. It helps me release pressure and gives me good determination and focus. In addition, I am also very keen on learning new skills and exploring new hobbies. I have just gained my open water diving license, taken a course on being a master of ceremonies, attended a 27-hour-in-total wine appreciation course, and learned to draw 3D interior design graph for my home decoration.
How did you find out about Eclipse?
A friend told me about an Options Market Maker which is growing really fast, so I started looking at Eclipse.
Could you describe your typical day?
My role is to protect the company’s assets by reconciling trading PnLs, reporting a consolidated overview of the firm’s FX risks for management overview, identifying operational weaknesses and making sure adequate internal controls are in place.
In the morning when I come in, I will first review the firm level position breaks, find out the root causes and urge for correction. After making sure position exceptions are attended to and escalated, I will comment on PnL exceptions, such as fee differences between traders’ estimates and actual charges.
What do you appreciate most about Eclipse?
Unlike very large companies, Eclipse is relatively small in size, giving me the chance to learn about different parts of the trading business. The flat structure of the company enables me to communicate easily with different colleagues.
